“I have a spirit that craves travel. I need it!”

We are so thrilled to have Danielle Dalton with us on the show today. We have never actually met Danielle in person, yet we have been wonderful friends for over a year. If you have been watching or listening to us for a while, you will know we planned to move abroad to China at the beginning of our travel journey. Danielle was actually going to be moving to the same place in China at the same time as us. We began communicating and getting to know each other thinking we would all be teaching and living nearby in China. Well, that didn’t exactly happen. She, just like us, got the rug pulled out from under her in her plans to move to China in August 2017. She decided to go in a completely different direction but refused to give up.

Danielle is a self-proclaimed slowmad. She likes to be in places for longer periods of time. What makes her travel journey special is she is over 40 years old traveling solo while her daughter in her early 20’s remains in the USA.

plus size travel, chubby travel, moving abroadDanielle is also a dual citizen, meaning she is both an American citizen, and a French citizen. Having a French passport allows her to live anywhere in the EU without needing a special visa. So after China fell through, she dug deep and decided to head for Europe. She ended up moving to Bilbao Spain for a year and a half and is now living in France.

“My daughter was my adventure. That’s how I was able to wait 20 years for this phase of my life.”

In today’s episode, we talk with Danielle about her incredible unplanned Spanish adventure, and now her life in France. We discuss how she got to where she is, her once in a lifetime experiences in Spain, her amazing outlook on a life of travel, and her plans for the future. This is a must listen for any parent unsure if they can still follow their dreams after children, and seemingly older than the typical traveler. Thank you for listening!
