What is the scoop on Jimmy and Amanda?

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Jimmy and Amanda. We met through an online dating website (Amanda says she put Jimmy in her shopping cart) way back in 2014. We quickly discovered we share a passion for travel. We went on our first international trip together after dating for only three months.

We want to inspire you to get out and see the world. So much of the time, folks say they are limited by their physical size and are afraid to travel. These same people put up barriers for themselves before they realize just how easy travel is. Our mission is clear. We are striving to prove to the world (and ourselves) that you can travel no matter your physical ability and knowledge. Knowledge is power, power is great, especially when you have to pull around big suitcases that weigh more because you have bigger clothes.

Meet Jimmy

Jimmy always had a passion for travel. He tends to thank his grandparents for taking he and his sister on road trips to see what the USA has to offer. Jimmy lived all over the place. Jimmy was born and raised in one of the most wholesome places on earth, Iowa. When he was around ten years old, Jimmy’s parents decided that it was time to move to Colorado, where it is hard for chubbier people to breathe. It was there he gained a better appreciation of different cultures living near the weird city of Boulder, the hub of hippies and free thinkers. After a few more moves to Ohio, Iowa(again) and New York, Jimmy ended up finding the love of his life in the weirdly wonderful city of Austin, Texas. Jimmy and barbecue have a relationship that will never die. It is here that he also met Amanda. She is pretty great too, and even loves her more than barbecue.

Before traveling full time, Jimmy had a number of interesting occupations. He was a surgical tech, working in surgery for almost 13 years. He was a firefighter/paramedic for 15 years in three different states. Jimmy is also a licensed aircraft mechanic, which is one of the reasons that he loves airplanes and long layovers. He hopes he inspires other like him to just get out there and travel.

Amanda at a young age had a fascination with the world. As she grew older that fascination grew into a dream to travel the world, and see all it has to offer. Born in Oklahoma, yet raised most of her life in Texas. Amanda’s life took her down some interesting paths, yet never was that a path of travel.

In 2009, she moved to the weird city of Austin, Texas. She began a new exciting career in wedding and event planning, and eventually started her own wedding and event production company. It was during that time, by the advice of her business partner, she signed up for a dating website. You know, to get back out there. It was there she met Jimmy. She quickly realized they each shared the same passion and perspective for life, love, and travel. He quickly became the love of her life. He made her dream come true with their first international trip just three short months after beginning to date.
Amanda has many hobbies and passions in her life in addition to travel. She loves to cook, read, write, spend time with her friends, go to the movies and spoil her nieces and nephew. She has an absolute obsession with makeup and all those girly things. You need a makeover? She is your girl! Her very favorite food is chocolate gravy and biscuits cooked by her Mema in Oklahoma. It has to be Mema’s chocolate gravy!

She was blessed with a wonderful immediate and extended family which she loves dearly, and that family has grown to include Jimmy’s family over the years they have been together. They are so very supportive of this crazy lifestyle she has chosen.
Her greatest passion is to live her very best life, and inspire those around her to do the same.
