What happens when you get sick while traveling full time?
As a full time traveler getting sick is just part what you may encounter. It’s not a matter of “if” it’s a matter of “when”. As we travel we are exposed to different environments, foods, and culture. With that brings different viruses, germs, and illness. It just happens. This makes your wellness while abroad all the more important. It’s important to know your options for healthcare, as well as, take steps to keep yourself healthy.
Pollution was something that gave Amanda some trouble. She ended up with an upper respiratory infection both times while visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand. Something in the air there doesn’t like her at all. Thankfully she knew exactly where she could go for care.
Now, what about those that have regular medical needs and check ups? Jimmy has a pituitary tumor that remains shrunk and gone due to a maintenance medication he has to take for the rest of his life. Where does he find it? Can he find it? This was a real battle for us this year.
